About us

The Virtual Intellectual Property Organization (VIPO) was founded in 2007 as a group in the Second Life virtual world. It was established as a non profit corporation with headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts in 2008.

VIPO became a recognized charitiable organization in the United States when it acquired 501c3 status in 2012.

The Virtual Intellectual Property Organization encourages and supports the development, monitized use, protection and enforcement of virtual property rights aka protectable user generated content that is created for use online, within virtual environments, or any other cloud based platforms.
